SO Information

The Man I married, the Lady I Love
By Dixie

When I met my husband, I was very naive; I had no IDEA what a crossdresser was. He told me of his passion for crossdressing after our 3rd or 4th date, his words were "I bet I have more dresses in my closet than you do", (which could have been very true since I am a "jeans" kind of girl, so he knew he won that bet, ha ha.) I said, "what do you mean" thinking his ex had left some clothes there. He said, "What would you say if I told you I enjoy wearing women’s clothes?" Of course I was shocked and he still to this day teases me about my reaction. I told him I didn't think I would like to see him in a dress, that I might loose respect for him, I was very confused. Here was this 6'3" 240lb man I was falling in love with telling me he loved dressing up as a woman! The one thing that seems common in many women’s reactions to learning this information is “Is HE Gay?”, this thought NEVER crossed my mind. Thoughts of mini skirts, 6” spiked heel thigh high boots and blue eye shadow did, visions of talk shows danced in my head.

At this point he directed me to several websites devoted to this, and I read, and read, and read. I already knew that I had fallen in love with the person he is on the inside, that will never change, even though the outside may change, he is still the man I fell in love with.

The first time I had met "Rebecca" was one evening, about a week later, when I came home from work, she greeted me at the door with a rose and a beautiful dinner. Dang she looked GOOD! My earlier thoughts on her dressing “style” were greatly relieved, as Becca always dresses as the Lady she is. However, at this point I wouldn’t mind seeing her in a mini skirt, as she does have nice legs and a cute “tush”, ahhh…..but I digress!

Since that time I have learned a lot about the Transgender Community, and we have gathered a “Family” of friends from all aspects of this lifestyle. I have grown in many ways through the help of Becca, and for that I truly thank her, and give my love totally and equally to “both” of these beautiful people in my life.

In all the reading I had done to learn more about this lifestyle I found a lot of it was directed towards the crossdresser rather than the SO. At this point I decided it was time to start gathering information, (good, clean straight forward information, not the “trash” most of the crossdressing sites had) and place it somewhere for others to learn the positive aspects of this lifestyle. On February 27 2001 “A Crossdressers Secret Garden” discussion group on Yahoo was formed. And now 4 years later we are at nearly 1400 members and over 34,000 posts. It is a very exclusive membership. The rules and guidelines are very strict and I approve each and every member myself. It was and is my goal to keep “Our” group clean, (and I say “our” because it is not my group, it is “all” of the members group, they are the ones that have made it what it is today), a place where the members are proud to call home.

We have taken an even bigger step and began our own Crossdressing Event, Eureka! En Femme Getaway, and are very proud of it’s success. The Getaway has accomplished it’s goal, to give wives and ‘the girls’ a chance to actually get out and enjoy this lifestyle, without exchanging the “closet” of the home for the “closet” of a hotel.  Approximately 75% of those that attend the Getaway are couples, husbands and wives, enjoying a ‘special’ time together.

So, in the time that Becca first told me about her crossdressing I have gone from a very naïve girl, to a woman that is totally accepting and participates greatly in this Lifestyle. Through the group, both Becca and I have helped many crossdressers and their SO’s learn and understand all the wonderful aspects involved in crossdressing, and we are both very proud to have been a part of their lives, we are proud to call them Family.
